We can already tell that the canopy at the new Smithsonian's Kogod Courtyard is going to be one of those Washington, D.C. fixtures that shows up in the pool every week or so. Flickr user cowbellemoo captures the flow of the architecture beautifully here. Who else made it to the opening yesterday? EXIF.

Yeah, traditional courtyards are so old school. I prefer to be caged-in anyday.

Whatever, Crosstown, that courtyard is beautiful. And Target's event was a lot of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed fighting 10 year olds and soccer moms so I could color my own Target-themed canvas bag!

Nice write up on it in the NY Times

The Great Court of the British Museum in London (similar Foster project) is absolutely stunning. The NYT review makes this sound even more beautiful. Can't wait to see it (and photograph it, of course) for myself!

The courtyard looks stunning--I haven't seen it in person yet, but from all of the photos I've seen it looks like they did a spectacular job.

As far as the first comment goes: blah blah blah. Just wouldn't be DCist without someone griping about something, would it?
