Photo of the Day: November 20, 2007

It was only with intense patience and a deep well of courage that Samer Farha was finally capable of trapping the long sought after Land Shark in his wide-jawed f/4 aperture shutter. Though the creature has become more elusive these days, now that it has seized a fleet of Segways for its nefarious purposes, it finally emerged once prey ran low in the back alleys of Pennsylvania Avenue and Union Station's gift shops.
... considered the cleverest of all sharks. Unlike the great white shark, which tends to inhabit the waters and harbors and recreational beach areas, the Land Shark may strike at any place, anytime. It is capable of disguising its voice, and generally preys on young, single women.
Be safe out there. EXIF.

This marks the first time I've ever not wanted to punch a Segway rider.
I'm pretty sure these are supposed to be whales.
I was totally taken off guard at 20th & P when this gang Segwayed past me. I thought to myself, "hey, I don't remember dropping acid today..."
They are supposed to be whales. I ran into them (not on segways) in front of Union Station a few days ago. Took a photo but it didn't come out so well. But they were carrying signs protesting commercial whaling (by Japan I assume).
Too bad, whales aren't nearly as funny. And yeah, people rent these all the time for marketing purposes.
Any Led Zeppelin fan will tell you, the cleverest species is in fact the mud shark, which also preys on young single women. How sad that the connotations for this particular species have changed over the years.
Somehow the NO GRIDLOCK sign gives it a nicely subtle punchline (as if DCfist's contagious acid trip wasn't enough, there had to be a nicely subtle punchline)...
Not to be completely tangential here, but what's with the parentheses around the "please" in the aforementioned NO GRIDLOCK sign? First of all, such a sign doesn't need a "please" anyway, but if you're going to add it, why be shy about it?
