Sure, our beloved United didn't get to play in the final showdown, but every time I pass this picture in the DCist Flickr pool, I want to stop and give this dude a high five. Aziz Yazdani caught this elated fan after the Houston Dynamo beat the New England Revolution last Sunday at RFK stadium. EXIF.

Only in a sports town like DC would this kind of BS fly aka Pic of the Day be of an opposing teams fans celebrating a championship...IN YOUR STADIUM. I should mention though that I am very happy that anyone but a Boston/New England team won.
Hey boring sandwich, you're missing the point of PoTD I think. It's a fun shot. It ought to make you smile, not get all worked up on a day where we should all be enjoying a quiet office or home (or in my case quiet gate at the airport).
Boring sandwich? Why you...you...meany!
I see some guy NOT for DC United smiling with a safety orange shirt on. You must not be a sports fan.
Happy Thxgiving and Safe travels but though that's great it makes you smile, please don't tell me how to view a picture on your terms.

Oh yeesh. I actually meant to disclaim that I'm not a sports fan; I just like the picture. I wouldn't exactly make a generalization about it being a "DC thing," just a "Heather" thing.
As a DC United fan from the very first match, a season ticket holder, and a Screaming Eagle, this picture is fine by me. The Dynamo fans seem like a good lot, all things considered. It's not like it's a Revs or Chicago Fire fan. Where I was sitting on Sunday (ie, in the heart of the Screaming Eagles section) the DC fans were cheering for Houston (at least, when they weren't cheering for DC United).
If Houston had been playing us on Sunday, though: different story. That guy would need a punch in the face. Of course, if Houston had been playing DC on Sunday, they wouldn't have had anything to celebrate :)
Thanks for making this the photo of the day :)
