About Tonight

2007_1129_abouttonight.jpg

>> One of the funniest comedic performers out there today, Amy Sedaris is at the Historic Sixth and I Synagogue tonight to promote her recent book, I Like You, at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are no longer available, but a few seats can apparently still be had at the door for $25 -- a small price to pay to be entertained by the woman who brought us the wonder that is Jerri Blank.

>> M.I.A.'s stop at the 9:30 Club has been sold out for a while. A few Craigslist options remain.

>> The Washington Jewish Film Festival kicks off tonight with the local premiere of Brazil’s official Academy Award submission, The Year My Parents Went on Vacation, director Cao Hamburger's coming of age story set during a crackdown by Brazil's military dictatorship in 1970. The 7 p.m. premiere is sold-out, but the festival promises a number of first-come, first-serve tickets if you're willing to show up early and wait for them. At the DCJCC's Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater, $20.

>> Alexandria sportswriter Michael Arkush will be at Olsson’s in Dupont Circle to read from The Fight of the Century, the historic boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden in 1971. 7 p.m.
