City Vehicle Parks in Front of Fire Hydrant

You'd think District employees would be on their best behavior these days now that the entire city is having an even harder time trusting them than normal. At the very least, you'd imagine the driver of city vehicle 96 5734 would realize that just about everyone is walking around with a camera, and if you park somewhere illegally, someone is going to notice - possibly even someone who's going to send their photos in to DCist.

Thanks to DCist reader Chris, who sent in these photos from his phone, noting: "as a dc resident who is frequently ticketed by meter maids who seem to come out of nowhere, i could not resist taking this shot. its a camera phone pic, so its not the best quality, but we all get the idea."

Vaguely NSFW version of the photo after the jump.

This is nothing new, we see it all the time in our neighborhood. The best is when a parking enforcement vehicle blocks a hydrant, alley, driveway, etc.

That's one of those non-working hydrants, so it's ok.

Or when an ambulance uses its sirens to cross traffic into a fast food drive-thru lane.

So if a bunch of us email this to the Mayor's office and demand this particular driver receive a ticket, do you think it will do any good? Yeah right.

I'd rather they parked in front of a hydrant than double park and block traffic in front of the Popeyes on 14th or the Mcdonalds on U.

By my house was never on fire.

I love it when parking enforcement vehicles park illegally, blocking a lane of traffic, only to walk cross the street and ticket a car blocking another lane. talk about taking a problem and making it worse.

Pictures of illegal parking - a preview of Street-Sweeper Cams to come.

I called the 'How's my driving?' line on the back of the parking enforcement car after it ran a red light while the driver was on his cell phone. Do I think it did a bit of good? Not at all.

The damn thing probably doesn't even work anyway.

Great. Now Jim Graham is going to outlaw vans.

Only could have been topped off by dousing the van in gasoline and lighting it afire.

I never have my camera on me and out to record the shit I see in Adams Morgan. Maybe I should start carrying it, but then I might get jumped for it. Never mind.

I got that one beat with the MetroAccess car driving down 4th Street NE this morning in the wrong direction.

Thats a funny picture with the two guys crouching by the car. I bet theyd be fun to hang out with.
