Decemberists Cancel, Locals Step In

Everybody's favorite Portland-based literary music makers, The Decemberists, have had to cancel their Long And Short Of It tour, just two dates in. One of the band members has been ill, and as it turns out, hadn't gotten as well as they'd hoped in time to tour. That includes the expansive four-night residency they'd scheduled at the 9:30 Club for this weekend. If you'd already bought tickets, you can get a refund at your point-of-purchase through November 26.

The good folks of the 9:30 Club did some fast footwork and got some locals to step in Friday and Saturday nights. Tomorrow night, Gypsy Eyes Records is hosting an evening with the always amazing Apes, Dust Galaxy and Revival. Saturday, two Three Stars alums — The Dance Party (***) and The Vita Ruins (***) — will be joined by Virginia's My Favorite Highway. The Vita Ruins take the stage promptly at 9 p.m., so get there on time. Mick Coogan from The Dance Party promises to play the band's entire catalog and some Decemberists covers, because they're huge fans of the band. Both shows are $10. We all wish a speedy recovery to the ill Decemberist.

Meh. I saw the Decembrists live at ACL, they're really kind of a snoozefest.
