The Weekly Feed: Food Coma Edition

2007_1123_feed.jpg

Hope everyone had an excellent meal on the greatest American food day of the year. It's been a quiet week in food news as it seems everyone was more interested in turkey.

DCist Food alum Erin Zimmer has an excellent recipe from Butterfield 9's chef Michael Harr for leftover cranberry sauce muffins. Mmm...

Pizza Mania
Looks like it's another pizza week in D.C. - everyone is covering pizza. From DCist's review of Pizza Zero, to WaPo covering Tony's in Manassas and Moroni and Brothers in Petworth and City Paper doing an abridged pizza roundup -- everyone has been going nuts over brick-oven pizza. Can we now all agree to move on from the anorexic pizzas, and as some of our commenters have asked, get some Chicago deep-dish? C'mon enterprising, down-home D.C. chefs, let's get some of that heavenly, dense gooeyness to keep us warm by next winter.

Small Bites
Can't keep H St. Down
Eternal Recurrence stops by Sova Espresso and Wine on H St. His shots make the spot look amazingly lush, and the espresso looks amazing. Open until 9 p.m., Sova might be a perfect place to grab a pick-me-up before a show at Rock & Roll Hotel. And holy crap, it might be the only place on H St. aside from Popeye's that isn't owned by Joe Englert.

Restaurateurs Joining the Blogging Revolution
Some enterprising young kids from the Cornell Hotel School are opening up a restaurant in Bethesda, called Punk's Backyard Grill, and blogging their progress. They discuss many of their decisions, from which drinks to serve to the purchase of kitchen equipment, as well as the restaurant's design. The menu will consist of many grilled (not barbecued) food items, and many of the associated sides. We wish these kids luck with their venture.
