WJLA Becomes Pawn of Jealous Husband

2007_1109_wjla.jpgFile this under "lame." WJLA has had a story up on their web site since yesterday about how a Fourth District Police Commander was apparently having an extramarital affair, and that his 14-year-old daughter accidentally stumbled upon the graphic photographic evidence. Their sad attempt at a news peg includes that he "might" have sent the woman he was having an affair with some emails while he was at the office, and that the emails between him and this woman suggest he might have engaged in some sexual conduct in his squad car.

Seriously. The MPD isn't taking disciplinary action against the officer, since the whole thing is a personal problem, but WJLA ran with the story anyway after the woman's ex-husband sent them the emails that his wife and the officer wrote each other.

We're going to go ahead and wag our collective finger at WJLA for this one. The last time we checked, everyone in the known world sends emails to the person they're sleeping with from the office once in a while. And hey, if we had access to a squad car, you can bet your butt we'd want to fool around in it, too. Some jilted husband sends you dirty emails, and you decide to go ahead and embarrass a man and his entire family? Stay classy, WJLA. We certainly hope no one ever catches you fooling around.

You pick the weirdest things to get fussy about.

Oh noes! Does this mean it's time to end my oh-so-wrong-but-so-very-very-right affair with Doug Hill? The forecast calls for heartbreak with an 80% chance of break-up sex.

Your mixed channeling of Ron Burgandy and Steve Colbert doesn't work with this one.
Gossip is gossip. I'd "something, something...indecent exposure"...
It's odd that he's suddenly a 'family man'.

Anything on Channel 9 is also carried on Channel 8 (cable).

There are alleged excerpts from the emails on the Channel 8 page. No pix, sorry.

How does this guy have access to his ex-wife's computer, anyway?

Is Tim Brant style the same as Greek style?

Um, I mean Channel 8 uses the same material as Channel 7, not Channel 9.

Sorry

Mike
(No TV at home; no access to ex-wife's computer).

If the story itself isn't news, couldn't you have discussed this without identifying the commander or linking to the story? Smacks of hypocrisy.
