>> Tonight, the Alliance Francaise and Twins Jazz present the Dupont T quartet, a group led by bassist Hubert Dupont, a major player in the jazz scene in Paris. Tickets to the 8 and 10:30 p.m. sets are $20. Discounted tickets are available to Alliance members.
>> Marshall Allen (pictured) is a long-time member of the influential avant-garde outfit, the Sun Ra Arkestra. Tonight, Allen brings his own group to George Washington Univ, Phillips Hall, 801 22nd St, NW, WDC, Rm B120 (in the basement). With Elliott Levin and This Bag is Not a Toy. 8 p.m. $15

>> On Thursday, smooth jazz star Marcus Johnson begins 4 nights of Christmas music at Blues Alley. Tickets to the daily 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 surcharge/minimum.
>> This weekend, Richmond-based bassist and Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassador Michael Hawkins leads a quartet at Twins Jazz. His band will feature pianist Larry Willis, altoist James Gates, and drummer Billy Williams. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.
>> On Saturday, jazz siren Jane Monheit (pictured) teams up with guitarist John Pizzarelli for a concert at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater. Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. sets are sold out, but it's always worth contacting the box office for last minute cancellations. $30
>> Peabody faculty member Donvonte McCoy brings his quintet to HR-57 this Saturday. The music runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12
>> Gospel music and jazz share common roots and you can see the future of gospel at the Millennium Stage on Saturday with the WPAS Children of Gospel Choir. The gospel influence returns to the stage next Tuesday with Sweet Heaven Kings, 16-member gospel brass and percussion ensemble from Anacostia's United House of Prayer.
>> On Sunday, Bossa Bistro & Lounge hosts a special benefit concert for the Sulha Peace Project, a group dedicated to bridging the gap between Israelis and Palestinians. Performers will include Gaby Meyer, Reb David Schneyer and Alan Oresky, and Improviso. Call 202-667-0088 for more information.
