Target Hiring, Opening March 9 in Columbia Heights

2008_0107_target.jpgThe Adams Morgan Harris Teeter isn't the only new store soon to open in D.C. that's begun recruiting a large new staff: over the weekend the future Columbia Heights Target held its own job fair, with interviews for the 320 job openings at the huge retailer to be held throughout the end of this week. The Post went down to the job fair and chatted with some of the applicants.

The grand opening of the Target, which is the anchor of the massive DC USA retail development above 14th and Irving Streets NW that will also include a Best Buy, Staples, Marshalls, Bed Bath and Beyond, Washington Sports Club and several restaurants, is set for March 9. That's just nine weeks more to wait before you'll be able to buy giant bottles of liquid detergent, trendy tank tops and cheap DVD players all under the same roof and just steps from a Metro stop. It's also only nine weeks until Columbia Heights residents start complaining about the increased traffic in their neighborhood.

Target's human resources staff are currently working from the Latin American Youth Center at 1419 Columbia Road NW. A variety of jobs, including cashiers and overnight stocking positions, are available. And don't forget about the Harris Teeter job fair on Wednesday at the Columbia Heights Community Center.

No thanks. I'll wait until Bed Bath & Beyond is hiring.
