Many of our readers expressed their nostaglia at the news the Orleans House in Rosslyn would be closing for good. Flickr user christaki took a photo for you all to keep in your memory books when the restaurant shuts their doors on January 15. EXIF.

Entries are rolling in like crazy this week. Get your photos into the DCist Exposed pool (along with your application and $5 entry fee) by this Sunday to compete for a spot in our show at Civilian Art Projects.

Good riddance! That place had worst food that Applebee's, it was great if you were in your late 60's, overweight, white, and had an affinity for terrible salad bars!

I kinda liked their prime ribs..

Had lunch at Orleans House last week. HUGE cut of prime rib with mashed potatoes, tea, a couple trips to the trippy salad bar, and a tip for $25. The place is like a time capsule. FYI, all that wrought iron furniture and everything that isn't bolted down will be put on auction at rasmus.com later this month. I want that steamboat salad bar so I can dance naked on it singing "Old Man River." Try doing THAT at Chopt.

that place is a dump--anything that replaces it would be an improvement.

p.s. what flavor was that fluorescent-colored house dressing anyway?

Which dressing are you talking about? Kryptonite green (Green Goddess) or scraped knee pink (probably Thousand Island)? Blue Cheese was my favorite. The stuff was thick enough to caulk your bathtub.

Easy now...

It is not about the food. No one ever said they had the best food in town, or even good food for that matter. It is the character of the place that matters. They have no pretense...They do not take themselves too seriously, and that is unusual in DC. It is a bit refreshing. It is also cool to hear about 65 year olds who took their prom date to Orleans House... Something cool about it, even with all of the kitsch.

Anyway, it is just shame that it is being torn down for another soulless, swanky high rise.

Oh yay!!1 Maybe we'll get a Ruth's Chris!! That is real classy!

By the way, the lime green dressing is "house" flavored, and that is all you need to know.
