>> Singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson of the Moldy Peaches (who have several songs featured on the Juno soundtrack) will play a free, all-ages set at Crooked Beat Records at 7 p.m.

>> Three stars alum Flex Mathews’ Goodwill Ink brings together top local talent for a mid-week hip-hop affair at the Velvet Lounge. Slated to participate are Oddisee, W. Ellington Felton, and Roddy Rod, among others. 8 p.m., $7.

>> Army Colonel (Ret.) and diplomat Ann Wright, who resigned her State Department post in protest of the Iraq war, will be at Busboys and Poets in D.C. to discuss and sign copies of her book Dissent: Voices of Conscience. 6:30 p.m.

>> Ween!

Bummer that Ween is tonight as well. I'd like to see the Kimya Dawson show.

 

I rode the bus by Crooked Beat a little while ago. Line was down the block.

 

Yeah, I hope that the 10 people who actually fit in the store enjoyed the show!

 

Kimya saw the line & how small the venue was & decided to play outside on someone's doorstep with the crowd surrounding her on the sidewalk in Adams Morgan! It was so awesome of her. I was one of the many freezing my butt off on the sidewalk waiting to get in.

I give props to Kimya who treated her fans so well. She played a number of songs despite the freezing temperature & was totally lovely. I'm now a bigger fan.

 

The music for the soundtrack was the worst part of Juno. It sucked, to be frank.
