blelvis. well.
i did notice louder announcements at gallery place friday night but i thought it was just because i was drunk.
george will is one of those dudes who, at every stage of his adult life, has probably always looked like an old man.
The Robbers on High Street have canceled their show at DC9 tomorrow due to an illness in the band. DC9 says tickets will be refunded. Zulu Pearls are still playing for the low low price of $5.
Sad. I was looking forward to Robbers, even if it meant missing the end of the premiere of LOST.
Sorry, by "tomorrow" I mean "Thursday," which is actually "today."
The two routes, which include stops in Alexandria, Manassas, Culpeper and Fredericksburg, are considered the most feasible because the tracks and stations already exist. If there's an agreement, it could be six years before the added trains actually start to run.
Maybe by that time, with rush hour in DC starting at 2am, people will actually use this instead of turning 66 into more of a parking lot.
What's Amtrack's reliability level compared to WMATA? When I used to take the Penn Line from Baltimore, I could get to Union Station in 40 minutes with almost no delays.
Glad to see there are still fire hydrants in NW DC that are out of service. Haven't they learned?
"Manassas, Culpeper and Fredericksburg," are they going to call the new line the "White Trash Express"?
Saw Blevis last spring around 4am... sang some songs, shot the shit.

That's not cool. I dislike the expression "white trash" almost as much as I hate the dreaded n-word. Like the n-word, the term "white trash" is used to demean, humiliate, and indicate a feeling of superiority that's antithetical to everything I believe.
Besides, I believe they prefer the term "Sons of the Soil." At least, that's what my cousins told me at their wedding. To eachother.
They'll probably want to add another track to each rail line to have a better chance at reliable, on time service. Sure, the tracks are in good shape, but it's still Norfolk Southern that owns them. Freight trains will always take priority, just like across most of Amtrak's network.
George Will is still pissed he didn't get into Yale.
sons of the soil? bumiputras?
I think they should call it the Gen. Grant Line. Slogan: Nothing has rips through to Richmond faster since the original Ulysses.
As soon as Virginia stops its continuous acts of treason by having streets and highways named after presidents and war heroes of the Confederacy, I will stop referring to residents of Manassas as white trash-deal Hillrat?
And please note too that if you go to Germany, you will not find "Adolf Eichman Highway" or "Goebles Drive"-just sayin....

No deal. I said what I had to say on the subject, if you want to continue to throw around hateful slurs that's on you.
If de-Confederacification of Virginia is as successful as the de-Nazification of Germany, you can look forward to a Klansman winning Tom Davis' seat. But it's not just Jeff Davis Highway and Lee Highway we're talking about here. Let's not forget the shameful relic of little known Son of the Confederacy, Ku Klux co-founder, and suburban cul de sac pioneer General Glebe Road, the hero of the Battle of Bull Sh**.
I saw loganmo at the dedication ceremony over in the Grit Preservation Zone last week when Florida Avenue in Northeast was renamed Rayful Edmond Avenue.
"Manassas, Culpeper and Fredericksburg," are they going to call the new line the "White Trash Express"?
Actually, in Fredericksburg, we're not white trash, we're Frednecks.
Mumtaz,
I thought residents of Frederick, Maryland were Frednecks.
You two need to work something out.
Hey Hillman -
I heard some tennants referring to their landlord as "white trash."
Then they laughed and boasted how behind on their rent they were, and how they had no intention of EVER paying. Then they said how they were causing deliberate damage to their apartment, just to spite this "white trash landlord."
Does this make you angry?
Is it OK to call people "trash?" I mean, if they are really trashing and all?
There needs to be a 3rd track to Richmond for sure. It would improve on-time performance for Amtrak and VRE. Once the capacity was in place, more frequent service between Richmond and DC could be feasible. I have friends in Richmond and I'd certainly use it, but the Amtrak schedule is weird and not all that convenient as it currently stands.
Electrification would be nice too.
