We reported last year that local arts venue Warehouse was forced to start closing down its 7th Street NW location due to skyrocketing property taxes. The bar and music venue closed last summer, but the rest of the space will continue to run through the Fringe Festival in July. In the meantime, they want to hear from you about how to improve their space when they finally move, and have set up a series of Wednesday night public conversations to hear what you have to say. On January 9, they'll discuss the theater; January 16, they'll cover the art gallery; and on January 23 they'll discuss the future of the music venue. All three meetings are at 7 p.m. at Warehouse.

>> Flashpoint opens an exhibit tomorrow by Arizona-based artist Julie Comnick. Her large-scale charcoal drawings (pictured) focus on the controversial trends of selective genetic reproduction in both humans and animals, using Biblical imagery and other unsettling scenes. See According to Their Kind and meet Comnick between 6 and 8 p.m.

>> The Mid City Artists are holding a winter group show at Studio Gallery, opening tomorrow. The huge show features over 30 relatively well-known local artists, like abstract painter Sondra N. Arkin, printmaker and textile artist Kristina Bilonick, and "gutter gift" artist Chuck Baxter. See the whole thing in Studio Gallery's recently expanded space, now spanning two floors and a sculpture garden, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

>> We missed the opening of Project 4's show Chasing Tales last month, but it runs until January 19, so stop by to see it during their regular hours. The exhibit features eight artists who act as faux historians, using their creative vision to show how the past can be retold or distorted through different perspectives.
