Sue Miller will be at Politics and Prose to discuss her latest, The Senator's Wife, a story about betrayal, fidelity, love, and we're assuming a senator and his wife. 7 p.m.
Having a hard time moving your 10,000 copies of "My Life, as Written by Me"? The Washington, D.C., chapter of the Women's National Book Association presents an informational session on "Promotion and Publicity" for authors, with independent publicists Lauren Cerand and Imal Wagner. 6:30 p.m.
TUESDAY:
We don't know if it's her pen name or if she's incredibly lucky, but novelist, critic, journalist and children's book author Francine Prose will be at the Washington DCJCC to discuss her writing process and influences. Presented by Nextbook and the Washington DCJCC, tickets are $8. 7:30 p.m.
Eric Burns, host of Fox News Watch, will be at Politics and Prose to talk about Virtue, Valor, and Vanity, which takes a look at how the founding fathers sought what is now called celebrity. 7 p.m.
WEDNESDAY:
Tahmima Anam will be at Politics and Prose to talk about her debut novel, A Golden Age, which fictionalizes her grandmother’s experience during the 1971 Bangladeshi war of independence. 7 p.m.
THURSDAY:
Cathy Eisenhower, Jen Girdish and Caren Scott will take part in Cheryl's Gone, a reading series at the Big Bear Cafe. Girdish has informed us that she'll have her MFA for five whole days by the time of the reading, so be sure to congratulate her. Sahba Sizdahkhani also will be on hand for some "post-revolutionary" performance art. 8 p.m.
When he isn't sitting around watching episodes of The Wire with gang members, Sudhir Venkatesh is writing books about them. Venkatesh will be at Politics and Prose to discuss his book, Gang Leader for a Day. 7 p.m.
