>> Celebrated vocal/guitar duo Tuck and Patti come to Blues Alley tonight for a four night stand. Tickets to the daily 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. sets are $27.50 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge. Advance purchase required.
>> As we mentioned yesterday, the National Geographic Live! Thursday concert series begins Thursday at 6 p.m. with the Kelley Johnson Quartet and Universes. Free
>> Guitarist Mark Mosely brings a fine group to Twins Jazz this Friday and Saturday for 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. sets. Special guests will include organist Radam Schwartz, saxophonist Dave Schnitter and drummer Jay Jefferson, who just played recently with the Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra. Tickets are $16.
>> Our pick of the week takes place this weekend at the venerable Bohemian Caverns. Three Stars alum Thad Wilson (pictured) will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his jazz orchestra, which features some of the finest musicians in the D.C. area, including pianist Allyn Johnson, drummer Nasar Abadey, and others. Sets are at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tickets are $20 for Friday's set and $15 for Saturday's. The price difference is because the Friday performance will also feature local legend Buck Hill.
>> Another anniversary takes place across town on Friday as Jazz Night in Southwest celebrates its 9th Anniversary. The evening's band will feature vocalist Sharon Clark, pianist Vince Evans and others. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. $5
>> This weekend, HR-57 will feature club regulars Antonio Parker (Friday) and Luis Faife (Saturday). The music starts at 9 p.m. $12
>> Local musician Pablo Grabiel and his production company, Grabielismo Productions, have set up weekly performances with local players at a variety of venues in the city. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays see performances at Maggiano's and some Wednesdays at Epicurean & Co. as well. Most recently, Grabielismo has begun a weekly Sunday brunch performance at H20 in Southwest.
>> Sunday marks the start of the Israeli Jazz Series at Blues Alley. We'll have a full preview later this week, but performers will include guitarist Roni Ben Hur on Sunday, saxophonist Eli Degibri on Monday, pianist Alon Yavni on Tuesday, and the brother and sister team of Anat and Avishai Cohen on Wednesday. Sets are at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
>> Three Stars alum Matt Rippetoe brings his quartet to Bossa on Sunday. 9:30 p.m. The club hosts Improviso on Monday. 10 p.m.
>> Head down to the Millennium Stage next Tuesday to check out Coolooloosh. The name comes from the Hebrew word meaning “celebration” and “joy,” and the band brings a blend of hip hop, rap, jazz, and funk that combines both English and Hebrew text. 6 p.m. Free
