Large plumes of black smoke are still visible above Jimmy's Tire Shop on the 1200 block of K Street NE, where firefighters continue to work to control a three-alarm blaze. The Associated Press reports that the fire broke out close to 2 p.m. and that a D.C. fire department spokesperson has said it will take some time before the flames are out.

Flickr user calnenearley was nearby and snapped some photos of the fire to add to the DCist Flickr pool. No injuries have been reported
