More Washington Protests Should Include Furry Costumes
Boing Boing picked up on a small but adorable protest held in Washington last week that we missed. A Greenpeace activist, dressed in a polar bear suit, was arrested on Jan. 31 after protesting in a paddleboat in a park pond in front of the Department of Interior. Greenpeace set up the boat and costume to protest the Bush Administration’s delay in issuing a final Endangered Species Act listing for the polar bear due to global warming.
Towleroad has more photos, including a pretty funny shot of a police officer decked out in waders to go in after the "polar bear."

"We're here! We're plushie! Get used to it!"
He went pretty damn peaceful for a polar bear.
Too bad he was protesting in what's pretty much an exposure wasteland. The area around the Department of the Interior is pretty stark and deserted at just about any time of day outside of the GWU/work morning rush.
Sign me up for the next Polar Bear Protest!!!
This is much better than the stupid protest rat on the truck.
What happened to the hippos protesting McCain's vote to filibuster DC voting rights? Bring back the hippos!
The saddest part about "the stupid protest rat on the truck." is that the picketers are dayworkers from the local homeless shelter. To bad the unions don't pay them union wages, leave, or allow them to collectively bargain!
"To bad the unions don't pay them union wages, leave, or allow them to collectively bargain!"
I didn't know there was a picketwalkers union. There's only one union that uses this tactic, and I haven't read anything about them not allowing the walkers to collectively bargain.
