Overheard in D.C.: Teenagers Know Politics

publicPolitics is all over D.C., for good reason. The city is full of insiders who know all the ins and outs of Congress, bills, campaigns, you name it. Political campaigns have many, many workers from D.C., who work on the Hill or as lobbyists or what have you. And our city is a bad name outside the Beltway — if I'm elected, I'll get Washington out of your (insert thing here). But sometimes political campaigns need to listen to outsiders, like teenagers. They know what will resonate: "Vote for the girl Clinton."

Quote of the Week:

AirTran flight from Phoenix to Atlanta (eventually National), the day after Super Tuesday.

Three teenagers (14-16 years old) in a row together.

Girl: "Can you believe Clinton is in the lead?"
Boy: "Whuh?"
Girl: "Clinton is in the lead!"
Boy: "Which one? You mean the girl Clinton?"

After the jump, cute little girls, cute older girls, and possibly ex-con bus drivers.

You know, because he drove the prison bus, not because he's a criminal.

On the 38B bus in Arlington heading toward Farragut Square, around 5:30 p.m.

Woman boards the bus and takes a seat a few rows behind the driver. Bus starts moving.

Driver yells to the woman: "Hey! What's your name?"
Woman: (she looks around before pointing to herself) "Me?"
Driver: "Yeah, you. You look familiar! What's your name?"
Woman says her name.
Driver: "Oh. Hmm. Man, you really look familiar. (pause) Have you ever been arrested?" The whole bus laughs.

"No Country for Old Cows" was good too.

Electronic marquee outside the Regal Cinema in Chinatown on Thursday evening: "DAIRY OF THE DEAD"

Uh, what?

18th and M:

Guy on his cell phone: "Everyone is a little bit racist. I mean, snapping your fingers and snaking your head like a jackrabbit having a seizure does not make you fierce."

------

Guess that wives' tale about kegstands wasn't true after all

At a college party:

A cute blonde girl in a mini skirt is doing a keg stand. Later she's in the corner puking.

Guy1: "Are you ok, weren't you just doing a keg stand?"
Guy2: "Yeah you need some water? You were up there for like 20 seconds!"
Girl: "I am ok, it's just my bronchitis."

Awwwww

On the Blue Line at Metro Center:

A precocious four-year old has been chatting with a stranger for a few Metro stops. She's about to get off the train with her family.

Four-year-old: "I think you're going to miss me."

Wow, that one person was totally talking about Christian from Project Runway. FEROSH!

DCfist: Maybe, but what does being racist have to do with it?

And I kind of love the girl from the last overheard.

Um, "Diary of the Dead" is a real movie.

Downtown-
Yea it is, but 'Dairy of the Dead' isn't.
note the confused a and i.

Theater management had corrected the "diary/dairy" typo when we passed by the marquee on Friday night heading towards the Peace Now! show at Warehouse. Luckily we had snapped a photo on Thursday night.
