B.B. King>> Guitarist Tim Miller, a professor at the respected Berklee College of Music, comes to Twins Jazz tonight with his distinctive tone and sense of composition. Call (202) 234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Smooth jazz saxophonist Andre Ward comes to Blues Alley on Thursday for 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 food/drink minimum.

>> It's not often that we get a chance to see an sax/organ/drums trio, but just such a group is coming to Twins Jazz on Thursday. Virginia-based saxophonist Stephen Norfleet comes to town along with organist Greg Nossaman and drummer Emre Kartari. Call (202) 234-0072 for set time and cover information.

>> Inventive pianist and vocalist Guillermo Klein leads a sextet for a free concert on Friday at the Coolidge Auditorium in the Library of Congress. The show is at 8 p.m. but there will be a pre-concert discussion at 6:15 at the Whittal Pavilion.

>> The Smithsonian Jazz Cafe is always a great source for local and national acts. This Friday, the concert series features guitarist Frank Vignola. 6:30 to 10 p.m. $12

>> On Friday, Jazz Night in Southwest presents a program titled "Black History Salute to Jazz & Drum", which features some local greats including bassist Steve Novosel, pianist Wade Beach, and others. 6 to 9 p.m. $5

>> Funky vibist/vocalist Roy Ayers comes to Blues Alley on Friday for a three night stand with daily 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets are $35 + $12.50 food/drink minimum.

>> Altoist Jim Snidero is a highly respected musician and educator, but the main reason to check out his shows this Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz is to catch the fretwork of Paul Bollenback, one of the best jazz guitarists around. The pair will be playing with organist Greg Hatza and drummer Harold Summey. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.

>> Bohemian Caverns hosts some fine local talent this weekend as guitarist Mark Mosely pays a visit on Friday and Three Stars alums The Young Lions drop in on Saturday. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.

>> Adam Levy, guitarist for pop sensation Norah Jones comes to town with vocalist Amber Rubarth to play at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge on Sunday. The music starts at 9 p.m., but you'll have to call (202) 667-0088 to see if there is a cover.

>> Are you down with the King? 'Cause DCist certainly is. Legendary bluesman B.B. King (pictured) holds court at the Music Center at Strathmore next Monday and Tuesday for this week's must-see. Available tickets to the 7:30 p.m. shows are $57-$77.

>> It must by a stormy Monday, because the Birchmere will also hold a blues session in the form of guitar phenom Robert Cray. Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show are $49.50 + Ticketmaster fees.

>> Swiss pianist/composer Nik Baertsch and his band, RONIN, bring their minimalist sound to Blues Alley on Monday. An increasingly popular group in Europe's jazz circles, this is a rare opportunity to catch this group in the States. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 food/drink minimum.

>> Baltimore-based vocalist Kathy Watson brings her straight-ahead sound to Blues Alley on Tuesday. Tickets are $18 + $12.50 food/drink minimum.
