Michael Scheuer, who anonymously chronicled his leadership of the CIA’s bin Laden Unit from 1996 to 1999, will be at Politics and Prose sans pseudonym to talk about Marching Toward Hell, a withering indictment of the Bush administration's attempt to export democracy abroad. 7 p.m.
Author, law professor and LGBT rights activist Nancy Polikoff will be at Busboys and Poets in D.C. to sign and discuss Beyond (Straight and Gay) Marriage: Valuing All Families under the Law. 6:30 p.m.

Charles E. Cobb Jr., a veteran of the civil rights movement, will be at National Geographic's Grosvenor Auditorium to talk about On the Road to Freedom: A Guided Tour of the Civil Rights Trail, with a special emphasis on historic sites in the Washington area. 7:30 p.m. He'll also appear at Busboys and Poets in D.C. on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Slate columnist Fred Kaplan will be at Politics and Prose to discuss his latest book, Daydream Believers, which combines reporting and analysis to give an overview of Bush years and explain how we ended up where we are. 7 p.m.

University of Virginia professor Edward G. Lendel will be at Olsson's in Old Town Alexandria to talk about This Glorious Struggle: George Washington's Revolutionary War Letters. 7 p.m.
High-profile lawyer Robert S. Bennett will be at Politics and Prose to dish on his years working with such famous clients as Bill Clinton, Paul Wolfowitz, Clark Clifford and Caspar Weinberger, the subject of his book In the Ring. 7 p.m.
