Video of Mural Installation at Marvin
Several people forwarded us this link to local graphic design firm ToolboxDC's blog, where they've posted a nifty time-lapsed video of the creation and installation of the large mixed media mural of Marvin Gaye that's hanging up in the dining room of the popular new U Street eatery Marvin. Owner Eric Hilton (of Thievery Corporation) commissioned the 6 ft. by 10 ft. work to be the centerpiece of the restaurant, but now he's putting the artwork is up for sale. If you're interested in purchasing it, you can contact ToolboxDC directly.
The video shows the installation process done by Brian Liu and Nick Pimentel of ToolboxDC in October 2007. It's about 7 minutes long, and provides plenty of evidence that alcohol played a big part in the job. If you make it to the end, you'll also catch a slightly scary moment where it looks like the guys trying to hang the piece almost dropped it.
Marvin is located at 2007 14th St. NW.

Really cool vid....I like the piece. Any idea how much they want for it?
They don't have the price listed anywhere online, so I'd guess it's not cheap. If you contact them they'll tell you how much.
Wow that is a very cool video. From your description, I was expecting to shut it down after five seconds.
Very groovy...on a side note, has anyone been to Marvin yet? Any good? I keep meaning to pop in, since it's only about a 15 minute stumble from my house.
