Looks like this year's festivities for St. Patrick's Day have gotten under way. Flickr user spiggycat took this photo during yesterday's St. Patrick's Day 8K Run (and also caught Mayor Adrian Fenty on the course). Next weekend the real ruckus will begin; St. Patrick's Day was officially moved to Saturday, March 15 this year by the Irish Bishops so as not to conflict with the earlier-than-usual Holy Week. So remember, if you're not into the green beer-filled drunken foolishness of the holiday, you might want to get a DVD and plan a quiet Saturday in. The St. Patrick's Day parade will be the following Sunday at noon, following a route down Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets.
