murky, sounds like a rough ride...hang in there. But you can silver-line the cloud by just moving to an even cooler DC neighborhood than CapHill, like U-lumbiaPleasant Circles St.

In the meantime, you're welcome to set up a temporary shop in my apartment (with free utilities!) while you iron things out. Do you think the rest of your customers could make the four story jump from the street to pick up their drinks at my window? Maybe you should push some chocolate-covered espresso beans to help out that cause.

Anyway, good luck...and keep in mind that as big a pain in the ass it may be now, this could just be a chance to introduce your amazing coffee and even amazinger people to more people in other parts of the city.

Any word on the status of the Arlington (ne Common Grounds) branch of Murky? I assume they stopped paying rent there too.

their blog postings have been slow on murkycoffee.com but they only mention issues with the DC location. So hopefully the confederacy will still have their reprieve of great coffee.

Reid: Doesn't sound like the rent was an issue, just DC taxes, a quarter-million's worth.

The landlord isn't keen on having a vacant storefront with seized signs all over it and the lease is month-to-month.

isn't it MLB policy to shut down alcohol sales after the 7th inning (after that stand-up father-and-son duo in chicago got wasted and jumped the rail to wail on kansas city's first-base coach a few years back)?

"Doesn't sound like the rent was an issue, just DC taxes, a quarter-million's worth."

Oh I see, but presumably their $250k bill in DC will significantly impact their ability to pay rent in VA.

is that why they have that damn rule? I thought it was to prevent drunk driving and figured we could slide by being the preferred method to get to the stadium is Metro. It really blows, in that the last two innings are the longest, especially in close games w/multiple pitcher changes.

IM,

You are correct sir, 7th inning stretch has never meant more......

Dude! I can’t even begin to tell you how upsetting this is to me. WifeRat, BabyRat, and I have spent many weekend mornings at Murky. I had always been kind of ‘meh’ about coffee before I went to Murky, but after tasting the divine caffeinated goodness of Murky I became a bit of coffee snob. Thankfully, Sidamo and SOVA are there to slake my coffee jones, but if the Murky’s Eastern Market location goes the way of the Dodo they will be missed.

Liz Lemon, where are you? Father of the Year (and the rest of the family) misses you.

So does anybody know the real story with Murky?

Didnt Murky have to cease operations due to a large amount of unpaid taxes to DC? It was one of my favorite places to go for brew when I went to Eastern Market, but if I have to pay taxes to the government, then so should businesses.
