Photo of the Day: April 3, 2008

Today's wonderfully symmetrical photo is brought to you by Flickr user andertho. The image from under the Case Bridge in Anacostia has some fantastic colors, with the red of the brick and the green from the water -- the cause of which we probably don't want to know about. EXIF Data

It's a beautiful shot.

As for the green in the water... most likely algae that thrives thanks to warmer water and all the phosphates we send down the drain (check out the dishwasher detergent under your sink).

Other than that, my next best guess is toxic sludge. Anybody remember Day of the Tentacle?

Um... the Francis Case Memorial Bridge isn't in Anacostia. Unless Realtor-speak has engorged the Anacostia neighborhood to include L'Enfant Plaza and East Potomac Park.

That's actually South Dupont Circle area.

That's actually Woodley Park/National Zoo/Adams Morgan/Maine Avenue Fish Market/Fort McNair/National Harbor/Occoquan/University of North Carolina at Wilmington/Trinidad/Tobago/Belo Horizonte/Vostok Station/Cydonia Mensae/Arrakis, to use Metro's full nomenclature.

Wow...awesome shot! It's very surreal, almost like when you get between two parallel mirrors and see the Infinity Tunnel...but in this case it's a bridge. Still, it's an impressive to see the water and light interact with the architectural structure in this photo.

I look at that pic and expect a heavily pixelated Hitler in a cyborg outfit to turn the corner, machineguns blazing.

monkeyrotica, this scene is from Diddy Kong Racing, not Wolfenstein 3D.

alewis:
