Today's photo, Balance of Nature and Destruction from Flickr contributor m hoek, shows us the ever changing face of the District. It's getting harder and harder to see the city without a huge crane somewhere in your view, but it's nice to see that nature still seems to have a big place in our city as well. EXIF.

is this that building on the northwest corner of farragut square? i thought that it was kind of looking like the oklahoma city federal building...

lotsa dingleberries.

IMGoph - that is the one.

Thanks DCist!

I walk by this every day on the way to and from work and stare. Beautiful.

I at first thought this was the Mt. Pleasant apartment building. Did they ever find out what caused that fire?

the Mt. Pleasant apt. building is just a shell. you can see the burnt roof of the church behind it. a friend who used to be an arson investigator told me that it's almost impossible to figure out the cause when the fire starts in the basement. too much rubble I guess.

Reminds me of that three-story that used to be on Mass just north of Chinatown. The front of the building had collapsed and it just stood like that for years, rooms exposed. It actually makes a brief appearance towards the end of Mars Attacks.
