Weekend Metro Track Work Returns

2008_0418_metrowork.jpgIt was nice while it lasted. After four weekends in a row of zero track work delays, WMATA is letting everyone know that regular weekend Metro track work is back. The good news is that these delays don't look too bad. Details below.

Red Line: Inbound and outbound trains between the Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood Metro stations will share one track from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 19. Metro advises adding up to 15 minutes of travel time on the Red Line on Saturday morning.

Orange Line: Inbound and outbound trains between the New Carrollton and Cheverly Metro stations will share one track from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20. During these times, every other Orange line train traveling towards New Carrollton will terminate at the Cheverly station and return to the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station. Metro advises adding up to 20 minutes of travel time on the Orange line this weekend.

Blue and Yellow Lines: Track work between the Van Dorn Street and Braddock Road stations will take place between from 10 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, April 20. Add up to 20 minutes of travel time on these lines on Sunday evening.

Hey there, Delays. It's nice of you to finally show your face around here again. We shared so many beautiful weekends in a row together last month. You, always making me wait, teasing me with false arrival times on the displays. Getting me excited when you'd show up on my side of the track only to find out the train's going the other way. Delays, we had so much fun!

And then you just disappeared. Leaving me alone in the metro, catching trains on fairly predictable schedules, getting to my final destination in reasonable time frames. God dammit, Delays, I missed you.

But you know what? I'm over you. IT'S BEEN 4 WEEKS and you think you can just show up in my life again, just like that? No. NO! You're gonna have to earn my trust again before I open my hear to you. Oh, I'll go down into the metro. And I'll wait and wait, but I'm not gonna like it. No sir, I won't be fooled by you again.

Wonder if this will congest things for Sunday
Earthday Festival on the Lawn (which I havent seen Any Information About)

But when are they going to start the major track work on Van Ness/UDC and then Friendship Heights? Or did they actually get that finished?

I got so used to being 45 minutes late on weekends that I don't know what to do with all the extra leisure time.

It's beautiful outside, don't sit in the cold, cold ground.

Well, it's not like Beltway drivers are getting a break this weekend either.

So long, Metro and gridlock! Hello jetpack, Ex-Lax and gay biker asschaps!
