Today's image of a group kayaking in the Potomac, brought to you by sideburns010, looks as though they are taking lessons with one classmate caught up on the rocks. Lots of people are taking up their outdoor activities now that spring has sprung upon the region. EXIF

great photo! organic as should be on earth day. anyone happy houring at mio today?

But every day is Earth Day!

Just like every day is Friday...when you have a gun.

g'job monk, more astute than usual

"how was you kayak lesson today, Billy?"

"awe, mom.....I got stuck on a rock again."

"there, there, Billy. how about a nice Hot Pocket to make you feel better?"

If you look close enough, you can see all the e coli bateria the kayakers are inhaling from the whitewater spray.

Isn't this the area near Point of Rocks where hikers and kayakers drown all the time? I'm not saying that Scylla and Charybdis are lurking just beneath the surface, but Scylla and Charybdis are probably lurking just beneath the surface.

Also, the area is a locus for intense Bunnyman activity. If you look closely, that's him lurking just behind the rock at 11 o'clock. Or that might just be yet another BVM manifestation.

"Lots of people are taking up their outdoor activities now that spring has sprung upon the region."

Really? Thank you for typing that! I'm so glad that I read it! My life is enriched!

Come on guys, I expect such banality from the AP or something, but I hold DCist to a higher standard.

I think it was Tennyson who wrote, (and I'm paraphrasing), "In the spring, a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of clubbing it unconscious with a heavy gauge industrial grade mattress spring."
