What's to recap? They stunk up the joint last night. That picture is worth more than a thousand words, last night's game (and possibly the series) was a train wreck.
This team's been pretty resilient all year and hopefully they remember sometime before the tip-off of game three. Right now they look like an NBDL team. I wonder if they're going through a bit of an identity crisis right now. Like all year long it's been Caron and Twan's team but now Gilbert's back so I get the feeling that the team's waiting for the old Gilbert while Gilbert himself is trying to buy into the team concept. Additionally, they're trying to put on this front of being physical and not being pushed around, maybe because it's the playoffs so that's what they THINK they need to do.
I don't know. That was embarassing though. As I said on some other messageboard somewhere, if they'd lost the first two games by a total of two points with both going to double OT we'd really have little to complain about.
That ain't the case. Right now this team wouldn't even win the Final Four.
I thought it was funny. And I would expect any recap on the Nationals' recent performance to be equally as brief.
Ditto that, Andrew.
I'd take it as that Kyle was at a loss for words from the disaster of a game last night, and that photo's a great metaphor of the events that took place.
They just don't have the "stuff" this year that propelled them past the Bulls last year. Better luck next time, I suppose.
train wreck = Gilbert (agent -0) Arenas.
I thought it was pretty clever too.
What else is there to say? The Wiz got lit up like a bowl at a Phish concert; that is, repeatedly. Hell, they made Ilgauskas look like the second coming of Bill Walton in the first half. Gilbert is still shaking off the rust from missing like 60 games and the Cavs are fired up 'cause the Wiz was talking shit.
The Wiz will take at least one game for pride, but this Cavs team is starting to gel and they could easily roll right to the finals again.
I'll reiterate...
The Wizards suck.
DC sports fans suck.
DeShawn Stevenson and Arenas should have kept their mouths shut. What a bunch of fools.
Rise up.
@Bladezone:
That Bulls series was two years ago.
@yoyoindc:
The one thing I've never understood about fans of the teams in this city is that the moment we get a potential superstar cabliber player, we want to kick them to the curb when they demand the huge salary that the collective bargaining agreement allows them to pursue. THEN when/if they do re-sign with our team (can you say Juwan Howard?)* we turn on them because they don't deliver a championship immediately. Sometimes, we don't even wait for the actual post-season to arrive, we just start booing during the season.
I don't know, I love Gil and I'd love to see him lead this team to the promised land but the way people here have turned on him I'd seriously consider going somewhere else. He'd probably end up on a Western Conference team and win three championships in his first three seasons there, meanwhile we'll continue to fight for the 5th through 8th spots in the East and never win more than 45 games.
*this is not to suggest that Juwan was never anything more than a quality role player but at the time he got the contract that he deserved based on his production. To this day, I still thing we traded the wrong Wolverine...oh wait, I guess Webber never was a Wolverine was he? Not according to Michigan's records.
@Brennan
What brilliant analysis. Not.

How exactly have DC fans turned on Gil?
How exactly have DC fans turned on Gil?
I guess you've never listened to a Wizards' post-game show have you? Also, I've seen this sentiment all season long crop up on local sports blogs/discussion boards. Luckily it hasn't resulted in flat out boos AT the games but it's out there. A lot of it has to do with the season that Caron had and this (foolish) thought that we don't need Gil because we have Caron.
Shoot, I've even had to come to Gil's defense when talking hoops with my own pops.
Equally as frustrating is the anti-Eddie Jordan sentiment which is probably stronger than anti-Gilbert feeling.
Cavs fan
your problem is the paint/middle...its soft as charmin..trade Jamison while he has value and go get a serviceable power forward and center. This isn't like college basketball where you can win with a strong backcourt and weak frontcourt (unless you have the greatest player in the game-Jordan). Seriousily the rebounding was horrendous..
Meh, I don't think Gilbert really is all that great. Never thought he was. In fact, I think it's a liability to have a shoot-first point guard like that. They don't win championships.
Caron is the player to build around...he's a stud. Let's trade the entire franchise (save Butler) to bring in Chris Paul and let those two lead the Wiz to the promised land.

Case in point. I don't even want to really entertain this but I'm curious, why exactly is New Orleans going to happily give up a player that could potentially be one the all time greatest guards we've ever seen? To help us?
Caron is, now I want you to scoot a little closer to the screen so you can get a really good luck at what I'm about to say. You there yet? Good. Okay here goes: CARON BUTLER IS A COMPLEMENTARY PLAYER. He's NOT
...a franchise guy. He's the guy you put NEXT to the franchise guy.
I hit "submit" accidentally.
Jamison is a free agent at the end of the season. We would have to do a sign and trade.
And now way you're getting CP3. He's an MYP candidate! Butler's too fragile to build around without either Arenas or Jamison.
Um, I know Caron's a complementary guy, that's why you get a pass-first superstar PG who happens to also be able to score (rather than a me-first, shoot-first, too short to be an off guard PG) to lead the team and let Butler serve as the 20-25 ppg, 8-9 rpg guy that he is from the #3.
And um, I wasn't saying that the Hornets would trade Chris Paul...in fact, I recognize that he's worth a ton...i.e. an entire franchise. I'm just saying that Chris Paul is exactly the type of guy that the Wiz should be looking for.
don't strain yourself by writing your own recap.
how very un-dcist of you.
aw cmon, i thought it was funny
me like. shortest post evah...
