It's not time to bring out Davy DCist in a boat, but the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for D.C., Prince George's, southern Maryland, Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, and few other Virginia counties. The advisory, which is in effect until 11 a.m. Tuesday, says tides will be one to two feet higher due to the phase of the moon and onshore winds, which may cause minor coastal flooding around high tide, especially in low-lying areas like Alexandria and Annapolis. The advisory lists all the jurisdictions and high tide times.
D.C.'s new flood maps suggest the city is more at risk than previously thought. No mention of that in the advisory, however.
Alexandria, as you may recall, has been the scene of much flooding in the past. The Capital Weather Gang say they don't expect tonight's Nats game to be rained out, but stay tuned here for updates on that. And of course, a wet night might mean a smaller crowd at the ballpark, thus smaller Metro crowds and maybe shorter lines for food.

This is a bit confusing, what with the photo showing a rainy night. The advisory states tidal influences, but there is that last paragraph talking about rain.
I didn't want to alarm people with a picture of a flood.
Is there a reason why Alexandria hasn't done anything to prevent the regular flooding that occurs in Old Town, like, you know, build a flood wall? Do they think that the floods add character, with the quaint little sandbags stacked around doorways?
