TUESDAY
>> What do you think about panic? Is it widespread? Spread-heads (is that a word?) probably already know about Widespread Panic's two day set for today and tomorrow at the Warner Theater. The jam band is touring behind their tenth studio album, "Free Somehow." Tickets are sold out, but we expect you can pick some up among the herbal blends on 13th Street NW. Doors at 7 p.m., $42.50.
>> Anousheh Khalili won a Grammy with Deep Dish, but the Richmond-based vocalist's solo work is more acoustic and emotional. She's playing at the Black Cat's backstage with The Feverfew and Sleep Station. Doors at 9 p.m., $8.
WEDNESDAY
>> Waukesha, Wisconsin's favorite sons, The Bodeans, reunite for a show at the9:30. Time to call your middle school friends, get out your scratched Party of Five soundtrack, and sing a long to "Closer to Free." It will only cost you $25. Tickets surprisingly still available. With Twin Cities rockin' troubadour G.B. Leighton. Doors 8 p.m.
>> If you're not interested in "Closer to Free," head over to DC9 for a garage rock extravaganza, with 60's-worshers The Woggles, the more Southern stomp of Tiger Tiger, and superfast locals The Hall Monitors (***). Doors 8:30 p.m., $10.
THURSDAY
>> Our very own Kyle Gustafson's Information Leafblower blog presents DCist faves Robbers on High Street this week at the Rock and Roll Hotel, joined by locals The City Veins (who happen to feature our Nats writer, Charles Gray). The Robbers canceled an earlier D.C. show due to illness, so we're happy to see their always impressive show back in town. Doors at 8:30 p.m., $10.
>> Local rootsy rockers Justin Jones and the Driving Rain (***) play a hometown show at DC9. Their last release, Love Verses Heroin, was well-received (if awkwardly-titled), so get out and see what new stuff Jones has up his sleeve. Playing with him is Howlin' Rain, the California alt. country side project of Comets on Fire member Ethan Miller. Doors at 9 p.m. $10/12.
>> Japanese experimenters The Boredoms take over the 9:30 Club tonight, complete with a seven-necked guitar, having honed their kitchen sink noise since 1986. Openers Soft Circle play more minimalistic soundscapes, while Black Pus gets back to the noise.
>> If a Japanese noise band doesn't suit your tastes, try folky Gary Louris, formerly of The Jayhawks and Golden Smog, who is touring behind his name album "Vagabonds." The country-tinged melodies hit the State Theater in Falls Church along with Vetiver, which sometimes features Devendra Banhart, and big-voiced 16-year old Virginia singer/songwriter Chelsea Lee.
FRIDAY
>> Les Savy Fav put on the craziest show I've ever seen a few years ago at the 9:30 Club. The lead singer changing clothes on stage (see the photo), climbing the speakers, and hanging over the balcony, held by his feet by audience members. That may not happen at the Black Cat tonight, but it's sure to be memorable. The Dodos add in psychedelics on acoustic guitar and The Big Sleep bring fuzz. Doors at 9 p.m., $15.
>> Three Stars alums The Apes join noise band HEALTH and hilariously-named D.C. experimental rockers True Womanhood at the Velvet Lounge tonight. This will not be your average normal show. Doors at 9 p.m., $8.
>> Baltimore's atmospheric Beach House play at Rock and Roll tonight — think shoegazer without the swirling guitars and with better singing. San Francisco's Papercuts speed it up a bit and sound a bit Velvet Underground (and Nico) -ish, and locals Stamen and Pistils start it off. Doors 8:30 p.m., $10.
>> Andrew Dice Clay is at the Warner Theater. Need we say more? Doors open at 8 p.m., tickets from $28 to $78.
SATURDAY
>> Ever heard of Georgie James? Just kidding, the local and DCist faves are at the Black Cat tonight with Olivia Mancini and the Housemates and Fredericksburgianites Tereu Tereu. Doors at 9 p.m., $10.
>> Care to guess what sort of music The Dirtbombs play? It's not Eurotrance. The Detroiters play grimy rock from the old days of the Motor City, and they'll be at the Rock and Roll Hotel today. They're joined by Sub Pop singer/songwriter Kelley Stoltz and local sunny power-popsters Julie Ocean, who have a lot of local music history between them — members formerly in Velocity Girl, Glo-Worm, etc. Doors at 8:30 p.m., $13.
SUNDAY
>> Their first joint effort showed up on his debut album when she was alread an established artist. The collaboration propelled Jay-Z into the limelight and further strengthed Mary J. Blige's position as one of the biggest R&B stars of her generation. Now, they're playing sold out arenas like they will be at the Verizon Center. Checking Craigslist, it looks like there's a chance you can go, albeit at a premium. 7:30.
>> Former Byrd and Flying Burrito Brother Chris Hillman joins with banjo picker extraordinaire Herb Pedersen at the Barns at Wolf Trap. Pedersen's used to jammin' with his own Desert Rose Band, and Hillman's been doing the solo thing for a while now. The pair are longtime collaborators, first meeting at the Troubador in Los Angeles in 1963, but recently put out of new album of classic, bluegrass-tinged covers called Way Out West. Mosey out to Vienna and check 'em out. 7:30 p.m. $24.
>> Hopefully you've heard of The Clash. Mick Jones from the legendary punk band joined up with Tony James from old school punkers Generation X to form Carbon/Silicon. We expect punk attitude and songs that sound like a mix between the two. Openers Matt Pond PA is one of those bands that puts out solid indie rock albums and put on good shows, but don't get too famous. Find out for yourself at the 9:30 Club. $20.
>> Just coming off a gig at Harrisonburg's MACRock festival, semi-local indie poppers Aloha play at the Rock and Roll Hotel. They recorded at D.C.'s Silver Sonya studio, run by band member T.J. Lipple. They're joined by gentle Chicagoans Anathallo.
>> Oye Como Va? Ask Santana the Merriweather Post Pavilion tonight. Allman Brothers Band member Derek Trucks opens. Gates at 5:30 p.m., tickets start at $35.50.

Two days of Widespread Panic. That means what? Three songs.
$78 to see Andrew Dice Clay?
Also: Andrew Dice Clay is still alive???
I can't wait to watch Better-half West cringe when Tim Harrington invariably gets naked-ish.
my robot friend is going to be at dc9 on saturday. i love the music, anyone seen him/them/whatever live before?
I'm not gonna see Andrew Dice Clay for $78. Now, maybe if they were willing to pay me $100...
I'll be all self-promotional and say come see my band Twin Earth"> tomorrow night at Velvet Lounge w/Women. The alt/experimental/psych fun begins at 9:30 p.m.
dirtbombs are a rad live show even if their latest cd is somewhat disappointing.
sorry for the messed up link.
The guys in Tereu Tereu go to my school. Crazy.
Really? Did you really use the "heroin" "up his sleeve" reference?
Jens Lekman on Wednesday at Black Cat - sure, I managed to wait too long to get a ticket and now it's sold out, but I figured I'd overcome my bitterness to mention it here.
Ditto stubar! doh
