corolla, we turn our lonely eyes to you!

Just in case Toyota is interested in a little feedback on how that particular promotional scheme worked out: it didn't. Sponsorship of individual posts or particular types of posts on a blog is generally a bad advertising strategy, in my opinion, because it creates the appearance of content segregated between "for pay" and "regular" posts, and makes people wonder if there are different standards for the writing or the items included in those posts.

In fact, by putting the About Tonight posts in a different category (uncommentable) and a different color, -ist basically made the whole block into an ad and I scrolled past them unread 9 times out of 10. It's not that they actively annoy the reader, like the mouse-over ads or ones that make noise, it's just that they end up making almost no impression at all. And when you do finally read an item that you want to react to, and you can't, it just creates feelings of frustration.

@Nate: Very well put.
