Roy Pearson Sues for $1 Million and His Job Back

2008_0506_clownpants.jpgDoes Roy Pearson not have anyone in his life, say a family member or a friend, to smack him upside the head and tell him to stop being so crazy? The Examiner and the Associated Press are both reporting this morning that Pearson, the man who sued the owners of Custom Cleaners for $54 million over a misplaced pair of pants and then subsequently lost his job as an administrative law judge, has filed suit to get his job back and for $1 million in damages.

Pearson claims in his lawsuit that the commission that voted not to renew his judicial appointment used the negative media attention surrounding the pants saga to wrongfully terminate him, when they were really retaliating against him for exposing corruption within his department. The Examiner quotes sources as saying that Pearson was fired because he showed a lack of judicial judgment and temperament.

Regular readers know that we've posted about the Pearson pants lawsuit extensively, often times with an accompanying graphic of a pair of pants. With this latest move, Pearson has finally prompted us to illustrate a story about him with a pair of clown pants. Is there anything more to say?

I would say something about Mr. Pearson, but I'm afraid he might sue me for $1.2 billion euro.

Somebody call the waaahmbulance.

He'll probably sue them, too.

I had a pair of pants like that once, but then my mom got a job.

how soon till we can embed photos in our posts? because we need that ability. stat.

oh yeah, and roy pearson is an assclown. plenty of room to be one in those pants...

Clearly, the man is insane.

I guess he values his pants 54x more than his old job.

Motion for summary judgment in 3, 2, 1 ...

I really hope this guy gets hit by a bus.

I love this guy...

Sue me, baby Sue me

Are those pants Hickey Freeman? Because that is Mr. Pearson's preferred brand.

Yeah and not only that, they better not have cuffs! Mr. Pearson hasn't worn cuffs since the 70s, he testified, while trying to convince the court that the pants produced by the dry cleaners couldn't possibly be his.

maybe next he'll sue his pants.

Only $1 million? That seems like such a small amount. I say he should sue for $75 million then bring it down to a lower number, just like he did for hte pants.

Gayest pants ever.

I'd wear them.

This guy is obviously coming apart at the seams. But I gotta say, it's high entertainment, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The most exciting thing to happen here in weeks has been that the streetlights are too bright. So until the summer murder spree hits, I'm happy we have this lunchbox generating hilarity.

Roy Pearson is God's gift to news editors.

On a sadder note, he is also the poster child for improved access to mental health care.

Snappy dresser, though.

Pearson fights for the right to pants. For any other judge they might settle, but I hope that the city is going to take this one to the mat on principal, at least as far as getting it tossed during the motion for summary judgment.

Roy Pearson's pant suits are much classier than Hillary's.
