Reid - The past few bank robberies downtown, the perps were packing assault rifles, probably fully automatic ones. Had there been a standoff, the cops would have been seriously outgunned and there would have been nothing to prevent the robbers from taking out everyone on the sidewalk. Still, I'm surprised Jim Graham actually voted for this, unless he has some alterior motive. Perhaps a more heavy-handed crackdown on nightclubs imminent? Or a blockade of the sovreign planet of Naboo followed by the formation of a grand clone army of the Republic for a safe and secure society? I have a bad feeling about this. I sense something...elsewhere. Elusive.

I highly doubt the Chancellor would blow off an event if the CBS Evening News sent a crew to film this. I give her the benefit of the doubt. While I dunno what the actual illness was, I know that if I was sick (and by sick, I mean feverish, nauseated, achy, etc., not just a sniffle) I would not stop in to read to the kids. And the parents would thank me for not getting their kids sick. But, I would have a Doctor's note, just to play it safe.

I wouldn't mind seeing that picture more often in DC. Except in the neighborhoods. Like with those Escalades that doublepark on U Street or in front of the Popeyes?

glad to see that ms. rhee had a legitimate reason to miss her expected appearance at scott montgomery. i still think the point stands that she should stop in and let the kids know that she wishes she actually could have been there. never hurts to smooth things over with the little people...

A response from Michelle Rhee was add to the ANC forum article this evening: Mr Moulton- I fell ill yesterday late in the afternoon. While I can try as hard as possible for that not to happen, it’s not something that I can necessarily avoid. Also, I was asked to “drop by” family reading night to read to students. I was not asked to give a speech. It seems that there’s been a lot of miscommunication here. MR
