Marion Barry Pays Bill O'Reilly a Visit

Former Mayor and current Ward 8 Council member Marion Barry apparently called up The O'Reilly Factor and asked to be a guest on the conservative talk show last night, and we've posted the video above. Barry wanted to talk a bit about Sen. Barack Obama and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal, but don't get too excited -- the back and forth between Barry and host Bill O'Reilly is actually for the most part rather cordial. At the very end, Barry even told O'Reilly that, "strange as it may seem, you're one of my heroes too, Bill." Of course, that was just moments after Barry told the host, rather astutely, that "if Barack spent 40 hours with you, you would never vote for him," while O'Reilly tried to posture himself as being open-minded about Obama's candidacy.

We're giving Council member Barry a grade of B+ for this appearance. It's sort of weird that he thought it might be a good idea for him to get involved in the Wright/Obama scandal, but he actually did a totally decent job on the show.

Hmmm....I'm surprised O'Reilly didn't try to sneak in jokes about Barry's crackish past.

Don't block the shot!

Do it live!

Poor Obama. With friends like these . . . .

So...Barry called up O'Reilly and asked to be on? Just out of the blue? Random. Wonder what sort of favor Barry is now going to be asking from Obama.

I want to know, will Barack Obama now both reject and denounce Marion Barry?

Well they've both been set up, so they have that in common..

Barack needs this public support expecially for the good folks of WV-Kentucky. That geico-caveman vote will be very important come fall.

Kind of lame that he changed the subject when they were getting into Rev. Wright.

I'm actually wondering why O'Reilly actually decided to take Barry's call. I mean seriously. I really doubt anyone thinks of Barry as a serious politician.

THOSE 2 LOSER ASSHOLES DESERVE EACH OTHER

okay, does anyone else notice that o'reilly starts referring to marion barry as "reverend" with about 1:10 left in the video??

Ah.. the rich and storied career of Marion Berry: come for the narcotics charge, stay for the cronyism and tax evasion.

I started reading the headline and thought you actually had a news story there for a second...

"Marion Barry Pays Bill"
