About Tonight

MUSIC: Didn't manage to score a ticket to tonight's sold-out Cut Copy show at the Black Cat? Head over here to RSVP for the official afterparty at edgy clothing boutique Redeem across the street. The party starts at 10 p.m. and goes until 3, with local DJs Will Eastman and DJ Cale adding their support to the music choices. The event is being advertised as having an open bar, but the folks at Redeem told us the only free drinks are likely to be vodka and Redbulls -- if that's your drink of choice, you're in for a treat.

JAZZ: Don't forget that the 13th Annual Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival starts at the Kennedy Center tonight, and runs through Saturday. In addition to a series of shows on the Millennium Stage, the event features a lineup of world class artists at its ticketed events. Don't miss our preview of the festival, and consider heading down tonight for the free 2008 Sisters in Jazz Collegiate All-Stars performance at 6 p.m.

READING: 1960s icon Tom Hayden will be at Busboys and Poets in D.C. to discuss and sign his book, Writings for a Democratic Society: The Tom Hayden Reader. 6 p.m.

PERFORMANCE: A special performance by The Weirdo Show at Palace of Wonders tonight will benefit one of the troupe's performers, who was allegedly struck by a D.C. Police cruiser last year, which crushed his left leg, and he has amassed a load of medical bills since then. Ouch! The $10 cover gets you a bevy of burlesque, rope trick and pyrotechnic artists. 9 p.m.

MUSIC: Need to do a little headbanging tonight? The Rock and Roll Hotel offers up Austin-based metal rockers The Sword, plus Torche and Stinking Lizaveta. $12, 8:30 p.m.

Shit, Cut Copy is tonight? I wanted to go to that.

Also...Lewis Black at the Warner through Sunday...I'm going tonight!

Ditto TW. I'm kinda surprised it sold out.
