Go Home Already: Just Ducky

>> Screech the Eagle and the Nationals' racing presidents went to Baltimore's Inner Harbor today, carrying signs like, "Old Bay Stinks!" and "I'll Race the Orioles Bird and Beat Him!" and "Honestly, the Nats will Sweep Baltimore, Hun!" The Oriole Bird was not amused. [WTOP]

granted, the oriole bird does suck; but you don't come at Old Bay like that. that's just not right.
The Skyline Target has had Spanish-language signage for some time. Why *wouldn't* the Columbia Heights Target also have signs in Spanish in the first place?
Now why they gotta hate on Old Bay? DC can't even get they act together on what constitutes proper mambo sauce, and they gotta hate on Old Bay? Don't hate!
Okay, seriously . . . that would be a great idea for a DCist piece. Go around to like two dozen different DC chicken and/or take-out Chinese places and order a couple wings with a side of mambo sauce. Taste test 'em all, and then try to figure out how the best two or three are made (if the places won't tell you). Hell, you could get a whole series out it, reviewing the wings, reviewing the sauces, writing up the places overall, a cook-it-yourself post ... and for once I'd have some freaking idea what's in the stuff!
I have no problem with the bilingual signage per se but in this situation it only adds to a situation we face in America, which is that of Mexicans and Latin Americans being, by FAR, the least likely groups to assimilate (or care to assimilate) into our culture.
While it may be at first blush their right to so, it makes it infinitely more likely that they create a burden on society rather than providing it benefit. And for that reason alone I am against bending backward to accommodate.

As an O's fan, I scoff at the Nats' weak attempt to intimidate the Oriole Bird. They didn't even spell "hon" right! C'mon Abe, get your act together! :-)
Hey look, the Freepers found DCist
Of course the Columbia Heights Target needs Spanish signs. How else can the maids of new residents do the shopping?
Nate - You can't get dcists to agree on whether drivers, bikers, or pedestrians are the most evil, let alone which mambo sauce is best. I will, however, vouche for the wings at "Evil" Danny's on H Street NE: crisp, juicy, and a sauce that isn't too sweet, isn't too barbecuey.
And their gizzards-and-fries lunch special is the poor man's moulles frites. I just wish they fried chicken livers, too. Mmmmm, poulet fois gras drowned in hot sauce. Gotta keep it ghetto!
I was trying to stay neutral in this fight...I figured they're in two different leagues, two different cities, they play each other a couple times a year... both have cute mascots, cute players, overpriced food and beer... but hatin' on Old Bay?? that's just not cool. Screech better check himself before he wrecks himself, that's all I gotta say.
Very sad about that elderly couple.
How can no one be commenting on the picture of the momma duck and the baby duck in the bucket? OMG SO CUTE THEY HAZ A BUKKIT -- SQUEE!
