photo 2 is the DC War Memorial, not the WWII Memorial

rob: it's labeled WWI, not WWII

There's got to be something wrong with IMGoph's comment so we can get 3 degrees of pedantry..

ummm, oops.

i'm sure i should have put something in italics, politburo. maybe you can razz me on that?

How soon we forget. Y'alls even did a freaking article on the WWI Memorial.

So disrespectful. The least you could do is try and think of those brave DC residents who fought to keep the Kaiser out of Hawaii.

The Rolling Thunder guys are allowed to bring their bikes on the grass, even when the Mall is having a problem with soil compaction and worn turf? Would they park their pretty bikes in front of the Vietnam Wall, I wonder?

"Soil compaction and worn turf" is clearly the result of a National Park Service that has refused to acknowledge the increased use of the National Mall over the past four decades and neglected to apply appropriate measures. Soil science is science, but it is not “rocket science.”

Stop it! Stop it! Stop this ... this hideous façade! Those men are heroes! Show a little gratitude! They didn't get their limbs blown off at Lachoy and Chunking just to listen to little pukes like you whine about soil compaction!

No, no, I must speak! When I, when I came to this war, I had two arms, two good arms, but when the time came to... to lose one, I .. I gave it gladly, I smiled as they cut if off, because I knew there was a FUTURE for mankind. I ... I knew there was HOPE... so long as men were prepared to give their limbs! And when the time came for me to give my other arm I... I gave it gladly. I... I SANG as they SAWED it OFF! Because I believed... OH YOU MAY LAUGH! But I believed with every fibre of my body, with every drop of rain that falls, a... a flower grows!

It may not be rocket science (besides, I dated a rocket scientist and they are overrated), but I don't think parking their hogs on the grass helps the already poor situation on the Mall. And doing it in front of a war memorial (no matter how obscure and neglected) is disrepectful. They are not an apolitical organziation (their founder certainly isn't), and a fair amount of their riders and members aren't even vets, so why do they get to the the divas of Memorial Day? Motorcycles = overcompensation.
