>> We already told you how much we loved their latest album, Made in Dakar, so now is your chance to catch Orchestra Baobab live. They will be performing in the dance hall at the Birchmere tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. $37.50 + Ticketmaster fees.
>> Saxophonist and local favorite Antonio Parker comes to HR-57 this Friday. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12
>> This Friday and Saturday, New York based flautist Jamie Baum leads Timepiece through 9 and 11 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. A faculty member at the renowned Manhattan School of Music, Baum has served as a Jazz Ambassador for the State Department and has topped critics' polls in premiere jazz publications. Tickets are $15.
>> The Lisner Auditorium features a double shot of world music this weekend. Celebrated afro-pop singer/songwriter Salif Keita performs on Friday ($25-45) and Brazil's Gilberto Gil ($35-$75) performs on Sunday. Both shows are at 8 p.m.
>> Fiery local Latin-jazzers Origem will perform on Sunday at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. 6 p.m. Free
>> Vocalist Alice Russell has earned a reputation as one of the finest vocalists in the U.K. Able to leap genres ranging from gospel to jazz, her vocal abilities are a perfect vehicle for her original material. Russell will play 7 and 9 p.m. sets at Bohemian Caverns this Sunday. Tickets are $15.
>> Three Stars alums Will Rast and Anthony Pirog perform with Inner Loop on Sunday at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. The group fuses electronica with the improvisational elements of jazz. 10 p.m. No cover.
>> One of the area's finest vocalists, Felicia Carter, will be performing next Monday at Blues Alley in support of her recent double album, Feather/Step Lightly. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $20 + $12.50 food/drink minimum.
>> Up-and-coming New York-based group, The Flail, pays a visit to Blues Alley Blues Alley next Tuesday. The group is touring the East Coast after having completed a very well received stint across Europe. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
>> Guitar legend George Benson makes a stop at Wolf Trap next Tuesday and will be performing with a 28-piece orchestra in a tribute to legendary jazz singer Nat King Cole. 8 p.m. $22-$42
