  • You know a neighborhood is really in need of retail development when a new Au Bon Pain is cause for celebration. [Frozen Tropics]
  • Submit your questions to DCist's own Heather Goss, who will be doing a live chat over at Washingtonian at noon on Wednesday to give advice to home renovators.
  • As gas prices go up, the VRE is gaining lots of new riders. As the VRE gains lots of new riders, the VRE is forced to skip stops due to trains being overcrowded. As the VRE skips stops, will people give up on making the switch to taking transit? [Examiner]
  • The War on Squirrels is gaining ground. [Prince of Petworth]
  • The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial gift shop and visitor’s center is moving to a new retail space at 400 7th Street NW. [Penn Quarter Living]
  • In the impending D.C. FroYo Wars, soon to open Mr. Yogato has a leg up by having the best name.
  • The D.C. Animal League has rescued a bunch of pets from the Iowa floods. Awwww. Many are available for adoption. [WJLA]

The link to the Examiner's VRE story points to Heather's chat instead. Copy'n'paste.. :)

Did anyone else see the Nesquik ads on the Metro today? The driver of the train I was on (Red line, Glenmont) even told passengers to look out their left windows to see the flip-book-like ads.

Any takers?

It's almost the anti-pinkberry. I bet you can even take photos in there. Also, "Rules of Yogato":
1. If Mr. Roboto comes over the speaker system and you sing along, you get 10% off.
2. Try your luck with a trivia question. Get it right for 10% off, but get it wrong and 10% is added.
3. If you will wear a yogato stamp on your head, you get 20% off

Oh score, this is right near my office! Finally a place that will satisfy my need for tasty frozen treats and feed my gambling addiction. May need to bone up on my Styx lyrics, but I will be ready when the time comes.

Mr. Yogato looks cute, but does every new yogurt shop have to use Pinkberry's colors? If you want to be different than pinkberry, then why use the same raspberry and lime color scheme for your shop?

You know what would be really fun? Free durian frozen yogurt, or durian as a topping. *That* would get attention!
