  • The annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival kicked off today. Today through Sunday and then again the following Wed.-Sun., you can experience the Smithsonian version of the cultures of Bhutan, Texas, and, oddly, NASA. Doesn't look like there's any astronaut ice cream on the menu.

What does DCist find so odd about celebrating the culture of NASA? Or is this more gravity-hugging propaganda from the terrestrial elite.

What other row would they execute someone from?

Sommer - You misssed it! There is a NASA food technology exhibit, and the festival shop brims with astronaut ice cream, but they don't have any Tang.

Washcycle: What is odd about celebrating the culture of NASA is that they don't do it -- they celebrate the Official Mission of NASA, not the same thing at all. Maybe that is the best they can do under the current administration, but it is disappointing.

The comments on that Obama/Jedi link are really disgustingly outrageous.

It's just odd to see NASA at a folklife festival. We were wondering if they were going to have a spaceship made of wicker.

Has anyone tried the Bhutanese "national dish" of chilies, cheese, and fiddlehead ferns yet?

someone answer this for me:

on wmatas site:
"5:40 p.m. A Green Line train at Branch Ave was dispatched late because two rail cars were isolated from service due to a public health issue. "

this was posted day before yesterday. what defines a ''public health issue''?

''public health issue''= puke

i was thinking ''hobo took a crap''

An Obama/Yoda ticket would be so gangsta.
