Don't forget the cleanup. Those balrog droppings are enormous. Wreathed in fire and shadow, you can't tell until you've already stepped in it and then it's TOO LATE.

"28 hours every week that the Metro is normally closed."

Ok here it goes,

12am Metro Stations Closes.
1230am Trains finish last run
1:00am Trains return to yard
1:15am Power is shut down, system is locked out for work to begin.
3:30am Wrap work up as power will come back on at 4:00.
4:00am Power is back on train leave yard to stations at end of line and do overall systems check.
4:50am Stations Open,
5:00am First train leaves.

So if you break it down it is really just over 2hrs a night can you can really do quality work on the track. Could they do it faster, maybe.

The 28 hours per week is actually a lot less when you factor in setup and breakdown, testing/verification of repairs, equipment moves, etc.

My guess is that they are doing regular maintenance when Metro is closed, but the system is falling apart at a much faster rate. It takes more than 28 hours a week to patch everything together with duct tape, rubber cement, and pieces of feces to keep it running through the next workday.

Between the CHUDs, morlocks, balrogs, and dwarves monkeywrenching the system, it's a wonder the Metro works AT ALL.

Can anyone explain why they don't do this work during the 28 hours every week that the Metro is normally closed?? Seriously, why do they need to do any maintenance work during normal hours of operation at all? What's the point of closing the entire system every night and inconveniencing every person who depends on Metro if they don't do repairs on it during that time?

And now with the gun ban repelled we can all take turns shooting Metro with our guns.

I just love that term "track work advisories," as if it were the Seven Dwarves happily singing "Heigh Ho" in the tunnels to help you speed you on your merry way. It's like when the IT folks say your computer is "down," like it's some poor old lady who's fallen and they're the goddamned Cub Scout trying to assist her. In both cases, THAT S**T IS BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE PUT DOWN. They need to take Metro out and shoot it like Old Yeller instead of having its crippled, rabid, buttwagon-dragging ass linger on, making you wait half an hour to transfer, and charging you full fare for the privelege. So go ahead and take the Franconia Metro if you want to DIE and leave a sweatsoaked corpse.

PS. Parking was ample.
