Photo of the Day: June 30, 2008

downpour.jpg

There's a slight chance of showers in today's forecast. But hopefully, it won't be anything like the downpour that Flickr user c00lmarie caught on Saturday. This Frank Miller-esque shot was enough to get us to neurotically obsess about whether or not to tote an umbrella this morning. EXIF.

That's a really cool choice, great pic!

Wow, that's a great photo.

Great picture. It reminds me of every other day during the last couple of weeks - just as I arrive home, here comes the downpour.

Awesome. This is actually a great choice. Kudos, Marie.

wow, a photo that's actually photo of the day worthy.

Unrelated, but something I thought most of the people clicking into this comment section would be interested in:
Gallery of Sawn-in-half-cameras from Wired's Gadget Lab blog.

Yesterday I took a trip to the Deutshes Technikmuseum Berlin, an oddity of a place containing all manner of weird and wonderful German technology, from a yard full of locomotives to an exhibition on cutlery and plates from railway dining cars...

...an amazing collection of historical German camera gear. The exhibit is full of retro gadgets, as you'll see below, but the most interesting to me were the bisected lenses and cameras, the insides of which show the precision of a CAD drawing.
