Now that the Democratic party has a presumptive nominee, some District residents, who overwhelmingly support Sen. Barack Obama anyway, might be in the market for an Obama T-shirt -- and they're in luck. The Obama campaign wisely has a number of such T-shirts available for sale at its online store, including state-specific shirts. The only problem? A friend recently pointed out that there is no "D.C. for Obama" T-shirt available for sale, even though Guam and Puerto Rico seemed to merit their own shirts. The outrage!
But, as it turns out, 11 other states don't have an official state Obama T-shirt on the web site, either. Obama supporters in Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming also are getting the shaft from store.barackobama.com, even though only two of those states -- Nevada and New Hampshire -- actually voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the primary.
What's the deal? The Obama campaign hasn't gotten back to us on this sartorial scandal, so at this point our best guess is the folks behind the online store are just behind, since it would be idiotic to purposely slight that many states. We'll be sure to update if we get any more information.

Actually, the Obama campaign had "Mississippians for Obama" t-shirts available during the primary campaign in the Hospitality State. Perhaps they just didn't print enough of them to continue selling them through the online store.
Good thing about the primary season lasting so long: Mississippi Democrats were actually able to get Obama (or Clinton) yard signs, bumper stickers, and t-shirts. During the 2004 Presidential campaign, you could only get a Kerry sign, sticker, or t-shirt through the internet.
Well, it's not like DC's teetering on the edge of going with Mccain. I mean, who the f**k would wear a "DC for Mccain" teeshirt? Not even the popped collar LNS douches because they aren't even registered. They were too busy slipping roofies in their dates cosmos at Sequoia.
What's more pathetic about this is that Obama's online store is run by Demstore.com, which is headquartered on MacArthur Boulevard, in the Palisades area of Ward 3. So you'd think they'd be a bit more sensitive to the issue.
Or not.
I emailed customer service. Let's see if I ever get an email or not. I linked this page in the email as well.
What's even worse is that demstore.com is a joint subsidiary of Skynet, Weyland-Yutani, and Nordyne Defense Dynamics (makers of DeathGel 2000).
Well that seals it. I may vote (Quixotically) for Obama, but his webstore minions will be receiving no terrorist fist jabs from me.
I wish that DC residents could actually come down to VA and vote here. God knows we could use the Obama votes more in VA than in DC.

I actually e-mailed them about this a couple of months ago. Besides a form e-mail back asking for a donation to the campaign and that things are changing in America -- keep hope alive kind of things; there was a follow up e-mail from a staffer who said they only started the shirts on Super Tuesday and the battleground states (which as the primary race went on, every state became a battleground vs. Hillary) but that once things got underway for the general election, they'd roll them all out...
Can it be that since DC only offers 3 electoral college votes that we are not worth making that silk screen for a tee-shirt?
@angrypenguin - No, but WSJ reported a hostile takeover bid from a Balrog. It's demstore.com's loss if they have to move from Macarthur Boulevard to Morgoth. The sushi in Morgoth is nowhere near the quality of Makoto.
Since to many outside the city "Washington DC" is a pejorative, it could be that someone figured having tons of shirts that say "Washingon DC for Obama" shirts would be seen as anti-Obama shirts, i.e. the washington "establishment" is pro-Obama. Which is not the message you want to send to the mouth-breathing-illiterate-fly-over masses out there.
Didn't Obama himself say "I have not spent much time in Washington, but I have spent enough to know it is time for change" A shirt which essentially says; "Washington DC wants you to vote Obama" would not be a good idea unless you wear it in the district.
Espcially since most people west of the Potomac don't know there are people here who can vote.

stmove has a point, to everyone who doesn't live in the area, Washington DC is just a huge amusement park that consists of the government and the mall. People don't live here, silly!

Oh, I'm familiar with Mordor. I even remember back when it was called "Tenleytown." Hell, I even remember when the naked guy climbed the Tower of Barad ur next to the Dancing Crab.
Besides, technically since Morgoth dispersed his power throughout Middle Earth, everything became Morgoth's Ring, including most of Foggy Bottom, so I stand by my statement that there's no decent sushi to be found there.
There's a great opportunity for a Tshirt contest here. Design the best "DC for Obama" shirt, vote on it, then put Monkey in it and bring on the buckets of water.
Or in the spirit of DC we can have people vote on it and then have Congress throw out the results and pick the shirt everyone hates.
Can they make one that says "Hope for the Future" or "Change you can count on"?
