At the beginning of June, the Washington Times launched a fancy redesign of their web site to incorporate a lot of overdue Web 2.0 features, like 400,000 specialized news feeds by topic (neat) and a bunch of new video and audio features (sure, OK). They also moved their nearly nonexistent local coverage into the A section, which we hoped might mean a new emphasis on local news, but so far that hasn't been the case.
Overall, we give them a B+. The new washtimes.com is a largely improved user experience with tons of bells and whistles to play with. But we do think it shouldn't have taken them over three weeks to do something about the typo in the home metro page title. We know the whole distinction between Capitol and Capital is a tricky one, but that's pretty embarrassing for everyone.
UPDATE: Huh, look at that, it looks like it was fixed in the time since I grabbed that screen cap. Well done, WashTimes.com! You beat me to it.
UPDATE II: Wait, no! The main page is fixed, but the local news homepage still contains this error. Our ribbing of WashTimes.com stands.

That's weird that their local coverage. I've always heard that WashTimes local coverage is solid because it inherited a lot of beat reporters from the Washington Star.
Not that I've read it much to actually confirm that, but it's what I heard.
