More Rescued Puppies Arrive in D.C.

2008_0701_puppies.jpgLooking to adopt a needy puppy? WJLA brings word that over 80 dogs that were rescued from an inhumane puppy mill in Tennessee have been taken in by The Washington Animal Rescue League and the Washington Humane Society. A total of over 700 dogs were rescued from the same place in June, along with 25 horses and donkeys, 20 cats, four parrots and 15 chickens.

This latest group adds to the already large total of dogs rescued by D.C. area animal groups from the recent Iowa floods. With so many dogs in the area in need of adoption, the Washington Humane Society is hosting an open Foster Parent Orientation on Wednesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. at 1201 New York Avenue NE. rescued puppehs & kittehs! this warms my cold dark heart, especially thinking about all the nasty things that should happen to the people that ran the mill and the people who ordered from the mill.

dibs on one o' them chickens....

I would give them money just to go and pet the puppehs for an hour. Damn I wish I could have a pet!

    icanhaspuppeh??

I got a home for at least one chicken (two if they are small and under-fed) in my fry-daddy.

If you cant adopt they take donations and if you have any extra blankets, towels, or dog toys those guys can use it. Help the little guys out!!

I'm surprised Monkey hasn't chimed in with nefarious plans for the donkeys.

this is a great post and a sad story. i only wonder one thing about the article on the WJLA site...this part:

"The dogs will be checked out by doctors and groomed before people will be able to adopt any of them. Michele Cascio said she would love a dog but, 'I have two dogs, two cats, and two guinea pigs and a 12-year-old!'"

who is Michele Cascio and why do we care that she won't be adopting a puppy? I don't understand it when writers add things like this to their articles. Absolutely no context at all.

    Am I missing something?

do you think Meiwah might be interested?

Forget the donkeys. I'm more worried about Marion Barry raping, cooking, and eating the puppies. And he'll probably staple those parrots to his daishiki. Will no one rid us of this parrot-stapling, puppy-chewing monster?

That photo's not of a puppy, people. It's a baby black bear and I'm sooo adopting it.

I's wanting another parrot, but Monkeys and parrots are natural enemies. At least in my house.
