it was 232 years ago today / Tommy Jeff, he taught the band to play . . .

Flickr user Brandon-J asks: What could possibly be more patriotic than Declaration author Thomas Jefferson at a (sparsely attended) Washingon Nationals game? And what're the odds he's packing heat under that red coat maroon frock?

so creepy. only in DC.

too bad everyone is copying the sausage race from milwaukee. can't we have something a little more original?

I am sorry but this picture could not have been at a Nats game on July 4th because they were in Cincinnati that day!

Yep. The photo was taken on June 27. PotD go up in the morning, so you can pretty much rely on them never having been shot the day they appear here on DCist. (We never claimed the photo was shot July 4, and of course, if you follow the link to photog Brandon-J's flickr page, you can divine the shooting date pretty easily.)

Also, someone told me that Sgt. Pepper was actually written by a bunch of Brits, but that just sounds like a bunch of anti-American propaganda. I guess freedom really isn't free!
