>> Tonight, legendary bluesman David "Honeyboy" Edwards pays a visit to Blues Alley to perform 8 and 10 p.m. sets. His latest album, Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas! won a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Recording. Tickets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge. >> The recently profiled Rob Coltun, guitarist and co-owner of the Bossa Bistro & Lounge, leads one of his groups, Improviso, on Thursday night. 10 p.m. No cover
>> Smooth jazz veteran Marcus Johnson begins a four night stint at Blues Alley on Thursday. Tickets to the daily 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $25 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
>> Local jazz guitarist Donato Soviero leads a group on Friday at the Millennium Stage. 6 p.m. Free
>> It's also a smooth weekend across town at Twins Jazz, as James "Saxsmo" Gates performs on Friday and Saturday in support of his second album, It's Time. Tickets to the 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.
>> Trumpeter and Peabody faculty member Donvonté McCoy leads a quartet this Friday at Bohemian Caverns. On Saturday, the historic club hosts DCist faves, The Young Lions, who will perform with guest saxophonist Quamon Fowler. Tickets to the nightly 9 and 11 p.m. sets are $15.
>> Vocalist AJay Parham brings his blend of soul, pop, and jazz to HR-57 this Saturday. The music runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $12
>> The Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music doesn't begin until September 28, but on Sunday you can get a taste of the cutting edge music the festival will offer at a pre-festival fundraiser taking place at The Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Silver Spring. 7 p.m. $5
>> On Sunday, the Bossa Bistro & Lounge hosts Annapolis based guitar wiz, Rob Levit. Levit doesn't perform in the District that often, so this is your chance to catch one of the area's best. 10 p.m. Call 202-667-0088 for cover information.

>> Three Stars alums Jeff Antoniuk and the Jazz Update will be playing Blues Alley on Tuesday. Comprised of some of the best players in the area, this group has long been a favorite of ours. Tickets to the 8 and 10 p.m. sets are $18 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
