Kaine Dodges Questions About Vice President Nod from Obama

2008_0729_timkaine.jpgVirginia Gov. Tim Kaine refused to answer any direct questions this morning about whether the Obama campaign has told him they are considering choosing him as running mate. Kaine, who has been named as one of Obama's top three or four choices for VP over the last week, appeared on the "Hands Across the Potomac" show hosted by WTOP's Mark Segraves, alongside Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty.

It's "flattering to be mentioned" as a potential vice presidential candidate, Kaine said. "My mom loves it. She calls when she sees it. But that's for the campaign to decide. And the campaign has made very good decisions thus far and I think, however they decide, they are going to make a very good decision."

Kaine did give one reason why the Obama campaign might be considering him for the VP spot: Virginia is considered a battleground state this year, while for much of the recent past it generally voted solidly Republican.

O'Malley joked that he would gladly step aside from being considered for VP if that would help expedite Kaine's nomination. Fenty only offered that he likely wasn't being considered due to his foot injury.

Ummm Kain in at the Naval Observatory and Bill Bolling in as Governor you might as well forget about any transit funding from Va for a long long time.

Ahh... to be the governor of an important swing state....

If they name him for VP, can the new handlers do something about his hair? kthxbye

ccunning: what's your problem with mr. kaine. seems like the rest of your state seems to like the guy just fine...

What about O'Malley for VP? The ticket will be so dreamy the PUMAs won't be able to stay away.
