In case you missed the list of Starbucks that will be closing in the D.C. metro area, WTOP has the whole list up. Only one out of the 600 stores that will close nationally is in the District -- at 2101 L St. NW. Given that there are also Starbucks locations at 2109 M Street NW, 2175 K Street NW, and 2400 M Street NW, we doubt anyone will be too inconvenienced by the change.
Most of the rest of the closures in the metro area are in the way far away suburbs, though one store in College Park, Md. is among them. The closest Virginia store set to close is in Fredericksburg.

Ha! They just opened that store in February.
The so-called College Park store is actually in Beltsville next to the Ikea.
How much you want to bet that for every Starbucks they close downtown, they open another three? They're like a friggin hydra, man. A hydra that tastes like burnt ass. Only one way to beat this beast: open up a bunch of A&W Rootbeer stands downtown. Coffee is so 2007. Sarsparilla floats and Lord Fauntleroy suits and pennyfarthings and ether parties are where it's at.
I bet a lot of the store closings are free standing sub/exurban stores with drive thrus.
Oh, can we get urban Dairy Queens? Somebody needs to open up a franchise, and I've got a craving for a Blizzard right now.
I'd rather get nutpunched by Starbucks than by Nick Cho.
man, that beltsville starbucks JUST opened! it still has the "Now Open" sign up outside! there's another one down the street with a drive thru. you could probably throw a rock from one to another. so, no big whoop, really.
I am DOWN with an urban Dairy Queen, yo! Their footlong chili dogs would give Ben's a run for it's money, and me the runs.
damn, an oreo mint chocolate chip Blizzard would hit the SPOT right now!!
Large chocolate malt with extra malt please.
Ooooh, do they still have Dilly Bars? I would kill for a Dilly Bar right now.
Grape Pop Rocks Blizzard would turn around an otherwise boring Friday.
Weird they are closing down the Sbucks @ 21st and L - It did just open and had pretty good co-attractor next door in Brueggers. Overpriced coffee and then go next door for a crappy bagel - what more could you want?
I just ate some sort of microwaved Egg McMulchpuck last weekend at the Beltsville Starbucks before heading over to Ikea. It seemed pleasant enough in there, largely because it was empty. Guess I'll have to go back to gravlax and ferret urine at the furniture store instead.

Guess people will now have to walk an extra block and a half to the Starbucks at 22nd and K; or if they really want some exercise, they can go another block over to the one at 22nd and M, or 19th and M, 16th and K, etc...
(or, like me, Illy)
Coffee's for closers only. Or closed Starbucks apparently.
The one in Gaithersburg that's closing just opened like 6 months ago. It makes sense that it wouldn't make $, though, since there's a Starbucks across the street in Lakeforest Mall, another one a block away in another shopping center, and yet another one on the other side of I-270 with A FSCKING DRIVE-THRU!
Yes, Starbucks has drive thrus in the 'burbs. That's how our SUV's roll.
